Professional Experience

Mr. Izumi is the Director of Global Operations Department at SUGIMURA. His practice encompasses patent prosecution especially in optical and electrical engineering. Prior to joining SUGIMURA, he had worked for the Japan Patent Office, where he served as a director for Television, Audio Systems, and Medical Imaging, as a patent judge at Amusement Machinery and Materials Analysis, and as a patent examiner at Business Machinery, Material Analysis and Medical Diagnosis. On top of the professional experience at the Japan Patent Office, he had worked for NEDO Silicon Valley Office as Senior Director (Technology and Intellectual Property) and for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, where he was responsible for AI Governance Guidelines and WTO TRIPS/TBT Agreement.
